Caspian Protector arrives for duty off Azerbaijan
Offshore staff
MUTTRAH, Oman -- Renaissance Services has recently added the newbuild Caspian Protector to its fleet of offshore support vessels (OSV).
The 61-m long emergency recovery and response vessel will be deployed off Azerbaijan to support a 10-year, $225-million contract with BP, won by Renaissance subsidiary Topaz Energy and Marine in 2008.
Other vessels committed to this contract are the platform supply vessel Caspian Server, which started operations in 2009, and the anchor handling tug supply vessel Caspian Power, due to be delivered later this year.
In 2009, Renaissance Services’ OSV fleet passed the 100 mark. The company’s strategy is to increase the fleet size while reducing the age profile. In five years it has added over 90 vessels while reducing the average age from 19 to 7.6 years.
