Craig Group is adding four new emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRVs) to the fleet operated by its North Star Shipping subsidiary.

ABERDEEN, UK -- Craig Group is adding four new emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRVs) to the fleet operated by its North Star Shipping subsidiary.
The company expects the new vessels, which are intended to replace older tonnage, to create a further 120 jobs in the North Sea marine industry.
This is in addition to Craig Group’s $207-million investment program initiated in 2003, which will have delivered 16 new support vessels by the end of 2010.
The four new ERRVs will be built at the Balenciaga Shipyard in northern Spain, which currently is working on three more for North Star Shipping.
At present the company operates a fleet of 30 offshore support, ROV survey and ERRV vessels.
The four new ERRVs will be based on the NSS-IMT 950s design. Each will be equipped with one or two daughter craft and one fast rescue craft.
In addition to mass evacuation of offshore installations, the vessels will provide other services such as anti-collision surveillance, pollution control / oil recovery, emergency towage, and tanker and assist duties.
