SINGAPORE -- Keppel has secured $140 million worth of contracts for the conversion of an FPSO and for the repair and modification of two semisubmersibles.
Bumi Armada Berhad has contracted Keppel Shipyard to upgrade and convert a Suezmax tanker into an FPSO.
Keppel Shipyard’s scope of work includes refurbishment and life extension works; fabrication and installation of accommodation blocks, turret support structure and topside modules; upgrading of auxiliary support systems; and installation of owner supplied equipment.
When completed in 2Q 2011, the FPSO will have 45,000 b/d of oil production capacity and 1 MMbbl of oil storage capacity. The Hoang Long Joint Operating Co., comprising Petrovietnam, Soco International, PTTEP, and OPECO, will deploy the converted FPSO on the Te Giac Trang field in the Cuu Long basin, offshore Vietnam.
Stena Drilling has contracted Keppel FELS to repair and upgrade the semisubmersible Stena Clyde. The contract covers a special periodic survey, main engine replacements, and a mooring winch system upgrade. Stena Clyde will return to Perth Australia for Apache Corp. upon contract completion in June.

Stena Drilling has also awarded Keppel Verolme a contract to repair and maintain the 3,700-dwt (4,078 ton) dynamically positioned drilling semi Stena Don. The project involves installation of four blisters and two sponsons, and overhaul of the rig’s thrusters. Work on the rig is scheduled for completion in the second quarter.
