Offshore Staff
(Singapore) - Singapore-based Keppel Shipyard has secured a $60.7 million contract to convert a tanker into an FPSO for Maersk Contractors.
The work scope on the fasttrack conversion of VLCCEllen Maersk into an FPSO includes the installation and integration of the topside modules, and the fabrication and installation of the internal moonpool for the turret, flare tower, piperack and helideck.
Keppel will also upgrade the accommodation module on the 2000-built 308,000-dwt tanker, which is 333 m long and 58 m wide.
The vessel is expected to arrive at Keppel Shipyard in early 2007 for completion in early 2008. It will be leased to Australia-based Woodside Energy for deployment on the Vincent field, off Western Australia.
The FPSO, designed to handle 120,000 b/d of oil and store 1.9 MMbbl, will be moored in around 400 m of water. First oil is anticipated in 2008.
