HOUSTON - Managed communications provider RigNet, Inc. was recently selected by Scorpion Offshore Ltd. to provide communications services for its inaugural fleet of ultra- premium jackup offshore rigs.

Under the terms of the agreement, RigNet will provide complete managed communication services, including IP-based voice and high-speed data communications and 24/7 remote network monitoring and technical support. RigNet will also provide local field support as needed on a worldwide basis.

Scorpion is currently constructing five ultra-premium LeTourneau Super 116 jackup rigs. The multi-year global agreement with RigNet includes installation of communications "plug and play" infrastructure on each of these rigs, which will reportedly allow Scorpion and its customers to have access to voice and high- speed data communications the moment they arrive on the rig.

"We are honored to have been selected by Scorpion to play such a critical role as they prepare to launch their fleet of ultra-premium rigs," said Omar Kulbrandstad, chief executive officer of RigNet.

"We look forward to working with Scorpion's management team and are extremely confident in providing the most reliable and robust managed communication services available for the global offshore industry."
