Sevan Driller naming ceremony takes place in China

The naming ceremony for the Sevan Driller, the world's first cylinder-shaped ultra deepwater drilling rig, took place on June 28 at Cosco Qidong Shipyard in Jiangsu Province, China.

ARENDAL, Norway -- The naming ceremony for theSevan Driller, the world's first cylinder-shaped ultra deepwater drilling rig, took place on June 28 at Cosco Qidong Shipyard in Jiangsu Province, China.

The vessel will be equipped with an internal storage capacity for up to 150,000 bbl of oil and will be capable of drilling wells to 40,000 ft (12,192 m) deep in water depths of up to 10,000 ft (3,048 m). The Sevan Driller will work for Petrobras in the Santos basin off Brazil.
