CAPELLEN, Luxembourg –Construcciones Navales de Norte has launched the Joseph Plateau for the Jan De Nul Group. Built in Sestao, the fall pipe vessel is designed for controlled rock dumping to 2,000 m (6,562 ft).

The system for the unfolding of the fall pipe operates fully automatically. At the bottom of the fall pipe is an ROV that correctly positions the lower end of the fall pipe. The vessel has a 31,500 ton loading capacity and makes it possible to dump 2,000 tons of rock per hour. The vessel can accommodate 84 persons.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery in early 2013 and Jan De Nul says it has a project ensured.
