Smit Lamnalco orders tugs for Papua New Guinea LNG carrier work

Smit Lamnalco has ordered for $35 million four azimuth stern drive tugs from Cheoy Lee.

SHARJA, UAE –Smit Lamnalco has ordered for $35 million four azimuth stern drive tugs from Cheoy Lee. The 32-m (105-ft) RAstar 3200 class vessels will support LNG carrier movement at the Papua New Guinea LNG project.

Lee plans to construct the vessels at its Hin Lee Shipyard, China, with the first two tugs delivered in October and November 2013 and the other two in January and February 2014.

Built to the Robert Allan design, the vessels are outfitted specifically to work under the location metocean and LNG carrier conditions in Papua/New Guinea.
