GIBRALTAR– Gibdock has completed repairs to the semisubmersible accommodation platform, Etesco Millennium.

The rig arrived at the yard last October. Gibdock worked jointly with owner Nazca Floatel and shipmanager Okeanos on the initial inspection, followed by more detailed surveys to assess the rig’s condition.

Ultra-high pressure work was then performed, with the yard assisting through provision of 11,000 cu m (388,461 cu ft) of staging. This program involved extensive blasting and cleaning, including work in the submerged tank areas, and steel repair works to the cross braces on the rig columns.

Etesco Millennium is a 22,604-ton modified semisubmersible, built by Marathon LeTourneau in 1976. It is 88 m (289 ft) long and 66 m (216 ft) wide at its maximum point, and is one of the largest structures ever handled by Gibdock.
