LERWICK, UK – Lerwick Port Authority has appointed Tulloch Development to manage the latest expansion of the Shetlands’ capital harbor facilities.
The $26-million project, designed to benefit the offshore oil and fishing sectors, involves construction of a new jetty at Holmsgarth North to provide deeper berthing and a larger working area. It will extend to 800 m (2,624 ft), with ultimately 10 m (33 ft) of water alongside.
The outer arm of the L-shaped jetty, designed by civil engineers Arch Henderson LLP, will create a dock suitable for berthingoffshore industry vessels.
Preparations will start soon followed by the main works in 2015, with completion scheduled for fall 2016.
