Hercules acquires High Island VIII jackup

HOUSTON -- Hercules Offshore Inc. has acquired the High Island VIII jackup drilling rig and related equipment for approximately $100 million.

The rig, to be renamed theHercules 261, will mobilize from the US Gulf of Mexico to Saudi Arabia to begin a three-year contract expected to commence on Sept. 30, 2008.
