SINGAPORE -- Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering Group has ordered a 19,000-metric ton (20,944-ton) carrying capacity fallpipe vessel for its offshore oil and gas activity subsidiary, Tideway. The overall cost, including the fallpipe installation, totals $157.8 million.

It is being built by Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore, and will be operational in 1Q 2011.

The DP-2 vessel will be equipped with an active heave compensated ROV and survey equipment, which enables it to perform high precision rock placement at a depth of 2,000 m (6,562 ft). Offshore rock placement is applied to stabilize and protect cables, pipelines, and flow lines.

A stone dump unit will allow the vessel to deploy and recover the fallpipe and ROV in a wide range of sea states.

It will be built in line with Lloyds Environmental Protection Code, implementing energy-saving measures and minimizing NOX emissions.
