SCAN Geophysical launches first newbuild

OSLO -- SCAN Geophysical's first newbuild M/V SCAN Empress was successfully launched on Oct. 10, 18 days ahead of schedule. The vessel is now alongside the outfitting jetty where on-loading and erection of the seismic hangar will continue.

The vessel will be moved back to the drydock for a few more weeks, the company says. This extra operation could cause a few weeks delay and cause delayed start up of operation from mid-March to mid-April 2009.
