Seadrill gets new Malaysia assignment

The Seadrill jackup drilling rig West Janus has signed a three-year contract valued at $164 million with a major operator in Southeast Asia.

HOUSTON -- The Seadrill jackup drilling rig West Janus has signed a three-year contract valued at $164 million with a major operator in Southeast Asia.

Start-up of operations is scheduled for Q3 2008, in direct continuation of the rig's existing contractual commitments. The rig will perform a brief yard-stay later this year to prepare the rig for the new assignment.

TheWest Janus currently is operating offshore Malaysia.
