Offshore staff
HOUSTON -- Scorpion Offshore Ltd. has awarded Lamprell a contract to construct the Offshore Mischief.
This is the second contract between Lamprell and Scorpion for a LeTourneau-designed drilling rig.
The rig has an identical design to theOffshore Freedom, a LeTourneau Super 116E jackup drilling rig. The Offshore Freedom is proceeding on schedule and the hull construction is underway at Lamprell's Hamriyah facility.
The rigs will have a triangular hull and three 477-ft truss type legs, each with an electro-mechanical rack and pinion elevating system, which will allow drilling in depths of up to 350 ft (107 m) of water.
Construction on theOffshore Mischief will commence in the second quarter of 2008.
