Maersk Contractors' new high efficiency jackup rig was named Maersk Resilient in a ceremony today at Keppel FELS in Singapore. It is the first in a series of four identical rigs currently under construction for Maersk Contractors.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- Maersk Contractors' new high efficiency jackup rig was named Maersk Resilient in a ceremony today at Keppel FELS in Singapore. It is the first in a series of four identical rigs currently under construction for Maersk Contractors.

The following three next generation 350-ft (107-m) jackup rigs will be delivered from Keppel FELS over the coming 15-20 months.

The drilling performance of theMaersk Resilient will be 20% more efficient than that of a conventional jackup rig, the company said. The rig will be able to drill deep and difficult wells, including high temperature/high pressure wells. An extensive mechanization has been implemented to further improve the safety and working environment for the crew, Maersk said.

The first assignment for theMaersk Resilient is a three-year contract with Dubai Petroleum Establishment in the Persian Gulf.
