Rigdon christens HAMMERHEAD

HOUSTON -- The HAMMERHEAD fast supply vessel (FSV) was christened and delivered by Rigdon Marine Corp. It is the first of four proprietary FSVs the company is building.

The vessel will be deployed to the Gulf of Mexico.

TheHAMMERHEAD is a 181-ft (55-m) x 34-ft (10-m), 7,200-horsepower, DP-1 FSV, which features a capacity of 1,001 bbl of liquid mud, 664 bbl of rig water, and a cargo deck capacity of 400 metric tons (441 tons). The FSV will include a 250 hp drop-down azimuthing bow thruster, and a cargo discharge capacity of 500 gal/min of liquid mud, 300 gasl/min of rig water, and 300 gal/min of fuel oil.

The remaining three Rigdon 181 class FSVs are expected to deliver in 2008 and early 2009.
