HELSINKI, Finland -- Kleven Maritime has contracted Wärtsilä to design a new LNG-powered platform supply vessel (PSV) for operator Rem Offshore.

This will be a Wärtsilä Ship Design VS499 LNG PSV, based on the VS489 LNG PSV design. Features include energy efficiency, a hull form claimed to be unique, fuel flexibility, and strong performance in terms of fuel economy and cargo capacity.

Wärtsilä will also supply the dual-fuel main engines (capable of running on marine diesel oil if required), generating sets, the electrical power and propulsion systems, integrated automation, and the power management system.

The vessel will be built at the Kleven Verft yard in Norway.
