Pacific Drilling extends drillship construction option

Pacific Drilling SA says it has agreed with Samsung Heavy Industries to extend to Oct. 31 an option to build an ultra-deepwater drillship.

LUXEMBOURG – Pacific Drilling SA says it has agreed with Samsung Heavy Industries to extend to Oct. 31 an option to build an ultra-deepwater drillship.

Pacific Drilling has three such drillships and expects delivery of another this August and two more in 2013. The option is for a seventh rig.
