Pioneering Spirit to lay first-phase TurkStream pipes

South Stream Transport has contracted Allseas Group to lay the first line of the TurkStream offshore gas pipeline system in the Black Sea, with an option for laying the second line.

DELFT, the Netherlands – South Stream Transport has contracted Allseas Group to lay the first line of the TurkStream offshore gas pipeline system in the Black Sea, with an option for laying the second line.

Allseas will deploy its multi-purpose construction vesselPioneering Spirit for the program, starting in the second half of 2017.

The vessel, currently in the Alexiahaven in Rotterdam, has an S-lay tension capacity of 2,000 metric tons (2,204 tons), and six welding stations for double joints and six coating stations.

The program involves installing more than 900 km (559 mi) of pipes on the seafloor.
