SINGAPORE – Palfinger Marine has delivered a marine crane and davit package to Austal for a high-speed crew transfer vessel.
The 57.6-m (189-ft), aluminium catamaran was designed by Incat Crowther and built by Austal’s shipyard in the Philippines.
In October, Palfinger service engineers commissioned a PK 6500 M electro-hydraulic foldable knuckle boom crane, with a safe working load of 880 kg at 5.6 m (18.4 ft) outreach.
The crane has a 1,300-kg hydraulic winch installed on the outer boom and is mounted on the 200-sq m (2,153-sq ft) deck, allowing up to 100 metric tons (110 tons) of cargo to be transported.
In addition, the vessel has search and rescue capability, with an on-board fast rescue craft available for rapid deployment and a chemical dispersant to support oil-spill “first response” capability.
