VAASA, FinlandHöegh LNG has commissioned Wärtsilä to supply the re-gasification system for the conversion of an LNG vessel to a floating, storage, and re-gasification unit (FSRU).

The re-gasification system will employ water glycol as the intermediate medium instead of propane. This should lead to a more compact solution, 15% smaller and lighter than a typical propane-based system, Wärtsilä claimed.

The full scope of supply for the project comprises the water glycol re-gasification module, the water glycol /seawater heaters and pumps. Delivery is scheduled for fall 2017.

Sveinung J.S. Støhle, CEO and president of Höegh LNG, said: “Having used [eight] Wärtsilä systems for previous FSRUs, we are familiar with their expertise in this field.”
