SEROOSKERKE, the Netherlands – OOS International Group has signed a contract to engineer and construct two new semisubmersible crane vessels (SSCVs) with China Merchant Industry Holdings.
These will be namedOOS Serooskerke and OOS Walcheren and will both be equipped with two heavy-lift cranes, with a total dual-lifting capacity of 4,400 tons per vessel.
Huisman Equipment will provide the cranes which will be available fordecommissioning/heavy lifting of subsea structures, foundations, moorings, floating and platforms for the oil and gas and wind energy sectors.
They will be capable of installing or removing a total load of 600 tons heave compensated at 3,000 m (9,842 ft) water depth.
Both SSCVs will provide simultaneous accommodation for up to 750 people and heavy-lift capability (the accommodation will be used during heavy-lift preparations), with a transit speed up to 12 knots.
These hotel services will be used during the preparation work prior to the execution of actualheavy lifting projects.
Other equipment will include a DP-3 positioning system supplied by Kongsberg, STX-MAN diesel engines, and Thrustmaster thrusters fitted with a condition monitoring system.
The contractor’s first SSCV,OOS Gretha, currently works for Petrobras offshore Brazil.
Engineering and construction should be completed in 2Q 2019 for theOOS Serooskerke, with the OOS Walcheren to follow in 3Q 2019.
