R. Stahl isolators approved for ship installation

Det Norske Veritas has approved R. Stahl Schaltgeräte GmbH's IS Pac isolator system for installation on ships and offshore platforms. Approval to DNV standards means R. Stahl's isolating repeaters, switching repeaters, and pac-carrier system can be used on tankers and drilling rigs, as well as other types of watercraft.

Det Norske Veritas has approved R. Stahl Schaltgeräte GmbH's IS Pac isolator system for installation on ships and offshore platforms. Approval to DNV standards means R. Stahl's isolating repeaters, switching repeaters, and pac-carrier system can be used on tankers and drilling rigs, as well as other types of watercraft.

R. Stahl developed the IS Pac isolator system for international, multiple-industry use. The same parts can be used on an oil field in Texas or on an LNG tanker in the Pacific, the company says. The system's range is robust and it can withstand shock and vibration, which makes it suitable for harsh environments. Isolator installation between a field device (sensor or valve actuator) and the control equipment (input or output of a PLC, a process control system, etc.) makes the field circuit intrinsically safe, R. Stahl says.
