ATHINA, Greece — METIS Cyberspace Technology is working with Esvagt on a fleet performance optimization development for service operation vessels (SOVs).

The SOV can operate as a transport and accommodation vessel, warehouse and workshop.

Following an initiative by Esvagt, METIS uses its high-frequency data acquisition and performance analytics to provide an assessment of SOV performance.

This involves visualizing SOV operations in a way that covers the full range of the vessels’ activities to determine fuel efficiency and likely emissions based on a five-day forecast of coming weather conditions.

Features include a depiction of total fuel oil consumption by activity across multiple scenarios (e.g., transit, personnel transfer, time-in-port, etc.) taking into account different weather conditions.

The software also examines how DP systems ensure maintaining vessel positions and ensure safe transfer of technicians to offshore installations via walk-to-work gangways.

METIS’ new DP Motion Analysis app analyzes the performance of the vessel’s power system during DP to display aggregated SOV performance based on fuel and energy efficiency, environmental conditions and motion dynamics.

In addition, the company uses weather forecast and vessel performance data to help site managers and vessel operators jointly schedule maintenance in an optimum way. The Smart Scheduler adapts existing voyage routing optimization to take account planning for wind farm operations, including safety requirements.
