RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – The Anita Garibaldi FPSO newbuild has started operating for Petrobras on the post-salt and presalt Marlim and Voador fields in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil.

It joins the Anna Nery FPSO, which entered service earlier this year for the same Marlim/Voador revitalization project, which involves replacing and decommissioning the fields’ original nine platforms. Deploying two new instead of nine old facilities should reduce overall emissions by more than 50%, Petrobras said.

The project will also help raise total output from the basin from the current 565,000 boe/d to 920,000 boe/d in 2027. Petrobras claims its Campos Basin Renewal Plan represents the world’s largest mature asset recovery program.

Anita Garibaldi, constructed by MODEC, can produce up to 80,000 bbl of oil per day and process up to 7 MMcm/d of gas. The joint production capacity of the two platforms is up to 150,000 bbl/d of oil, while the combined gas processing capacity is up to 11 MMcm.
