OSLO, Norway— The newly converted jackup production platform BW MaBoMo (ex-Hibiscus Alpha) has departed from the Lamprell yard in Dubai onboard a heavy-lift vessel.
It is in transit to the Dussafu license offshore Gabon where it will be installed to produce oil from the BW Energy-operated Hibiscus and Ruche fields.
It should reach the offshore location at the end of September followed by installation and hookup, with first oil planned late in first-quarter 2023.
BW Energy expects the Hibiscus/Ruche development to add production of up to 30,000 bbl/d once all the initial six horizontal production wells are onstream.
When the platform departed Dubai on Aug. 8, there were some minor outstanding upgrades, but these were executed offshore in preparation for the sailaway.
The newly converted 12-slot facility will be connected to the BW Adolo FPSO via a 20-km pipeline.
