ABERDEEN, UK Ithaca Energy announced that the Captain offshore team has completed critical work on the removal and replacement of a thruster on the FPSO vessel.

The company said the replacement of thrusters is an important and complex scope of work that is crucial to the life of any FPSO.

The Captain Field lies about 90 miles (145 km) northeast of Aberdeen, Scotland, in the Outer Moray Firth, in water depths of about 346 ft (105.5 m).

Matthew Fowkes, subsea IRM engineer, said, “We have carried out several thruster replacements before, but each time the process evolves, we improve and we apply lessons learned from previous campaigns. It is no doubt a complex job involving multifaceted teams and air divers. Everyone performed and exceeded expectations.”

Preparation is underway for reinstatement of the drive train and associated auxiliary equipment, testing and commissioning.
