COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Maersk Drilling has entered an agreement to sell the jackup Maersk Convincer to ADES for $42.5 million.

The rig should transfer to the new owner on completion of its current drilling program in the Far East for Brunei Shell Petroleum Co (no later than mid-September).

Maersk Convincer is a Baker Pacific Class 375 cantilever jackup, delivered in 2008 and operating offshore Brunei Darussalam since 2017.

Christine Morris, CFO of Maersk Drilling, said: “This transaction will contribute to the optimization of our fleet in line with Maersk Drilling’s strategic priorities of maintaining a fleet of modern, high-end assets and concentrating our jackup activities in the harsh environments of the North Sea…”

Following the sale, the company will own 10 jackups and eight floaters.
