Brimmond secures power orders for platform conversion, pipelay system
Offshore staff
KINTORE, UK – Brimmond Group has won an order to design and manufacture equipment for the conversion of a jackup rig into a production platform at a yard in the Middle East.
The scope comprises seven hydraulic power units (HPU) that will provide the passive heave compensation function within the conductor tensioning system.
Each HPU will comprise six 50-liter accumulators, a pneumatic primary pump, and an electrically-driven back up pump. All will be certified for use in an ATEX Zone 2 hazardous area and certified to PED Category IV.
Another recent contract award for Brimmond calls for the design and manufacture of a mechanical lined pipe hydraulic pressurization unit for permanent installation on a pipe-lay vessel.
It follows an earlier design the company performed for the same client in 2017.
The unit will establish and maintain a constant pressure in pipelines up to 406 mm (16 in.) in diameter and 8 km (5 mi) long during reeling/laying operations.
It will feature two KAMAT high-pressure triplex plunger pumps.
Finally, Brimmond will oversee fabrication, manufacture, and testing of a subsea anchoring ROV, which will install anchors for a tidal platform offshore Canada.
