KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Petronas is investigating the causes of a collision last week between the MV Dayang Topaz vessel and platform structures at the Baram field, 14 mi (23 km) offshore Miri.

The company is assessing the condition of the structures: early analysis suggests the incident – which occurred when the vessel’s anchor wire gave way during bad weather – did not cause any impact to the local environment.

Vessel owner DESB Marine Services was undertaking duties at the Baram platform for Petronas.
