SHARJAH, UAE – Unique Group and Innovo have completed a decommissioning contract for Saipem on an unnamed project in the Middle East.

The two companies’ teams deployed internal and external dredging tools, diamond wire cutting and internal cutting tools based on abrasive water jet technology, operating at 1,500 bar (21,756 psi), along with technicians to support the operation.

Equipment was manufactured and delivered for the program within four months of receiving the order.

Unique has also entered a cooperation agreement with Deepwater Corrosion Services under which it will offer the latter’s corrosion control solutions to the Middle East market.

Deepwater has developed systems to protect, monitor and extend the productive lives of aging assets. These include cathodic protection (CP), permanent CP monitoring, CP design and engineering and corrosion inspection and survey.

The company’s sacrificial (SACP) and impressed current (ICCP) systems are said to be well known to the corrosion industry and include the RetroPod, RetroLink, RetroMat and RetroSled.

All are connected using the RetroClamp system, which can also be used to install and connect permanent monitoring systems.
