Boskalis acquires DSV from Harkand

Royal Boskalis Westminster has acquired the diving support vessel Atlantis from Harkand for around $60 million.

PAPENDRECHT, the NetherlandsRoyal Boskalis Westminster (Boskalis) has acquired the diving support vessel (DSV) Atlantis from Harkand for around $60 million.

The company has additionally signed a three-year bareboat charter for sister vesselDa Vinci, with a right of first refusal in the event of a sale.

Both vessels, which were taken into service in 2011, feature two bells for saturation diving duties to a depth of 300 m (984 ft), with accommodation for 120 crew.

Boskalis had been looking to expand itssubsea services capability for inspection, repair, and maintenance of subsea offshore installation, pipelines, and cables.

Its goal is to expand further in provision and installation of SURF (subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines) equipment, particularly offshore northwest Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
