LAFAYETTE, Louisiana --C&C Technologies Inc. has completed a deepwater survey for Noble Energy using its new C-Surveyor III AUV. The 81 nautical mile (93 mi) run was in depths ranging from 4,100 ft (1,250 m) to 4,700 ft (1,433 m).
TheC-Surveyor III has a multibeam echosounder, chirp sides can sonar, chirp sub-bottom profiler, and CTD system. The sub-bottom profiler is outfitted with narrow transmit and receive beams to permit deeper seabed penetration. The dynamically focused side scan sonar system provides five times more resolution than traditional systems.
"We are really excited about the progress of our AUV program over the last seven years," says Thomas Chance, CEO of C&C Technologies. "We have taken the technology from the R&D stage to being fully integrated into the majority if the worlds deepwater survey programs."
