Aker Kværner lands two drilling riser contracts

LYSAKER, Norway – Aker Kværner has signed contracts to deliver two drilling riser systems and associated equipment for NOK 300 million ($55.9 million) for two unnamed companies.

The two drill risers will total about 6 km (3.7 mi) in length and are scheduled for delivery in 2009 from Aker Kværner Subsea's Malaysia facility.

"Our new manufacturing centre in Malaysia has the capacity to capitalize on the boom in the worldwide rig market. Our technology is already field-proven, so we are in a good position for further growth," says Svein Haug, senior vice president for Umbilical & Riser in Aker Kvaerner Subsea.
