Burullus contracts VetcoGray production control systems
Offshore
NAILSEA, UK --The Burullus Gas Co. has contracted VetcoGray to supply subsea and topside production control systems, including ModPod technology, for three wells in the Sequoia gas field at a cost of $15 million. This will aid in the development of a new gas field in the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) area offshore the Nile Delta, says the company.
Burullus is a joint venture by BG, Egyptian General Petroleum Corp. and Petronas to undertake exploration and development of the WDDM area, which is Egypt's first deepwater development.
"The technology to be provided by VetcoGray will enable Burullus to expand and develop a new gas field by using the expansion capacity designed into the existing control systems," says Dean Arnison, vice president Subsea Controls Systems for VetcoGray. "The requirement for additional infrastructure is therefore greatly reduced."
The equipment will be manufactured at VetcoGray's Nailsea facilities in Bristol, UK, and shipped to Egypt for installation in 2009.
