Offshore staff
LAFAYETTE, Louisiana C & C Technologies, Inc. completed a deepwater autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) operation for BP Exploration Caspian Sea Ltd. The work included the acquisition of 5,500 km (3,418 mi) of deepwater seabed data in water depths ranging from 100 to 700 m (328 to 2,297 ft).
C & C utilized an Antonov AN -124-100 jet to transport 88 metric tons (97 tons) ofC-Surveyor II AUV equipment from Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Baku, Azerbaijan, then mobilized aboard M/V Neftegaz-64 in the Caspian Sea.
The C & C'sC-Surveyor II AUV is an untethered vehicle deployed from the survey ship in a free-swimming mode. This equipment provides data used to produce detailed maps of the seabed used to determine placement of offshore assets and the most efficient route for pipeline installations.
