STAVANGER, Norway --Statoil has submitted a development plan for the Alve gas and condensate discovery in the Norwegian Sea, based on a subsea tieback to the Norne production ship.

Assuming sanction from Norway's Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, Statoil aims to install a single subsea template on Alve with four well slots, development drilling starting this August. There would also be some modifications to the Norne FPSO.

Alve has in-place reserves of 6.78bcm of gas and 8.3MM bbl of condensate. After coming on stream late in 2008, the field should reach a peak production rate of around 4 MMcm/d (141 MMcf/d). The estimated development cost is $375 million.
