ABERDEEN, UK --Venture Production has signed a partnership agreement with Aker Kvaerner concerning subsea control systems supply.

Under the framework agreement, Aker Kvaerner Subsea would provide, install, and commission control equipment for Venture's subsea projects in the UK North Sea, also providing life-of-field support. Remi Birkeland, senior VP Controls, said the company expected to support around six Venture projects annually.

The arrangement should allow Venture to receive faster deliveries, compared with traditional practice for one-off project contracts. According to Venture's field development manager Chris Bird, it will also give his company greater control over its operational program, as it will be able to call upon key resources as needed to complete projects. "This is particularly important at a time when oil equipment and services are in such tight supply."
