Oceaneering lands Shenzi contract

BHP Billiton Ltd. has awarded Oceaneering International Inc. a contract to supply umbilical distribution and connection equipment for the initial Shenzi field development in the Gulf of Mexico.

HOUSTON -- BHP Billiton Ltd. has awarded Oceaneering International Inc. a contract to supply umbilical distribution and connection equipment for the initial Shenzi field development in the Gulf of Mexico.

The order is for three suction-pile-supported umbilical distribution system structures, 40 steel tube flying lead assemblies, junction plates, and assorted test equipment. Each structure will have umbilical termination and hydraulic and electrical/communication assemblies that will be independently retrievable.

Manufacturing is to take place at the Oceaneering Intervention Engineering facility in Houston, Texas. Hardware deliveries are expected to begin in 2Q 2007 and to conclude in 1Q 2008.

The Shenzi field is in the Green Canyon area of the GoM in (4,300 ft) water depth. Initial field development includes seven subsea production wells tied back to a tension leg platform.

Co-venturers in the Shenzi development include Hess Corp. and Repsol YPF.
