OSLO -- Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has sanctioned BP Norge’s request to perform manned underwater operations this year in the Norwegian North Sea.

The consent applies to the company’s project `BP(N) Diving 2010’. Phase 1 will start this month, with a planned duration of around 25 days. Phase 2 starts in October and should take six to ten days.

Work will be performed on the Valhall, Hod, Tambar and Ula/Oselvar fields, and will include maintenance, equipment replacement, and inspections. Diving will be managed by Subsea7 (SS7) using the DSV Seven Pelican, in water depths ranging from 10-73 m (33-239 ft).
