Technip to supply flexible pipe for Tupi off Brazil
Offshore staff
PARIS -- Petrobras has awarded a contract for infield lines of the Tupi pilot system to Technip. The contract includes engineering, procurement, manufacture, and supply of 90 km (56 mi) of risers and flowlines for water injection, oil production, gas lift, and CO2 reinjection.
Tupi is in 2,200 m (7,318 ft) of water 300 km (186 mi) offshore Brazil in Santos basin. Production is from the pre-salt layer. The piping challenges are the water depth and both CO2and H2S content. The flexible pipes will incorporate a new riser monitoring system using distributed temperature sensing.
Technip in Brazil will manufacture the pipe with the support of the Le Trait, France, plant. Delivery is scheduled to start near the end of 2010 and finish near the end of 2012.
