Andrew umbilicals assigned to Duco

NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE, UK -- BP Exploration Operating Co. has awarded Duco a €14 million ($18 million) subsea equipment contract for the Andrew field development in the North Sea.
Andrew is l30 km (81 mi) northeast of Aberdeen in a water depth of 100-120 m (328-393 ft).
The contract covers engineering, project management services and fabrication of a 215-m (705-ft) static riser umbilical and a 29-km (18-mi) static seabed umbilical. The umbilical consignment includes over 600 km (373 mi) of thermoplastic hoses and over 160 km (99 mi) of electrical cables. In addition, the riser umbilical incorporates optical fiber cables.
Duco will manufacture the umbilical systems and thermoplastic hoses at its facility in Newcastle, with all equipment scheduled to be delivered in 2011. Recently, BP also contracted the company for umbilicals for its Skarv development in the Norwegian Sea.
