Offshore Geo-Surveys orders AUV

KONGSBERG, Norway -- Offshore Geo-Surveys Sdn Bhd (OGS), the seismic survey division of Offshore Works, has ordered a Kongsberg Maritime HUGIN 1000 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). Delivery is scheduled for 2Q 2010.
The HUGIN 1000 ordered by OGS is rated for 3,000 m (9,842 ft) depth and is powered by rechargeable lithium polymer batteries. It carries a geophysical and oceanographic sensor suite that can operate simultaneously to give high-resolution data of the sea bottom. The HUGIN 1000 system comes with a complete navigation solution for accurate geo-referencing of the payload data.
The transportable AUV package is scheduled to be stationed in Labuan, Malaysia.
