PARIS – FMC Technologies has ordered a 13.5-km (8.4 mi) control and chemical injection umbilical from Nexans for the Marulk gas field on the Norwegian continental shelf. The €10 million ($13.678 million) contract is to design, engineer, and manufacture the static subsea control umbilical.
The umbilical will go from the existing Alve template and will be a custom-made static umbilical that integrates steel tubes for fluids and 1.5 kV power cables. The project will be carried out at Nexans’ specialized umbilical facility in Halden, Norway, with delivery scheduled for spring 2011.
