At this year’s Subsea Tieback Forum & Exhibition in Galveston, Texas, from March 2-4, Roxar is introducing an ROV system for retrieval and installation of subsea sensors and transmitters.

GALVESTON, Texas – At this year’s Subsea Tieback Forum & Exhibition in Galveston, Texas, from March 2-4, Roxar is introducing an ROV system for retrieval and installation of subsea sensors and transmitters. The new system provides for retrieval and/or installation of instrumentation on trees, manifolds, and process systems during production.
The system has four basic components: 1. Permanently installed mechanical interface 2. Sensor/transmitter 3. ROV retrieval tool 4. Hydraulic and control system contained within a skidded ROV retrieval tool basket.
The mechanical interface accommodates different sensors. The sensor body and fixture attach onto the interface to create a leak-tight connection. An electronics canister interfaces with the sensor and a specialized ROV tool replaces the sensor without halting production operations.
This system is the product of a Demo 2000 Joint Industry Project among BP, Chevron, Shell, Total, Statoil, and Roxar. It is being qualified and tested, including shallow-water testing with an ROV and a pilot program.
