STAVANGER, Norway -- As North Sea Gjøa field developer, Statoil has contracted with FMC Technologies for subsea systems.

FMC will provide 14 christmas trees and five subsea templates with manifolds. The contract also includes production control systems, workover systems, and an option for umbilicals. The final contract depends upon field partners' final plans for development and operation, and installation and operation.

This "also makes feasible to commence production drilling as early as autumn 2008," says Kjetel Rokseth Digre, Gjøa development project manager.

The field is in blocks 35/9 and 36/7. Plans are to route gas via the British Flags pipeline system to St Fergus, Scotland. Oil will go to the Statoil-operated Mongstad terminal near Bergen via a tie-in to the Troll II pipeline. Production is set to begin in 2010.

Gaz de France takes over as production operator when the field comes onstream. Licensees are Gaz de France (30%), Petoro (30%), Statoil (20%), Shell (12%), and RWE Dea (8%).
