PARIS – BHP Billiton Petroleum Pty. Ltd. has awarded Technip Oceania Pty. Ltd. and Subsea 7 Australia Pty. Ltd. a $160 million contract for the deepest subsea production system to date in Australia. The work is for Stybarrow in 800 m (2,625 ft.) of water offshore North West Australia.
The joint venture contract covers design, manufacture, transport, installation, and pre-commissioning of 48 km. (157 ft.) of flexible risers, flowlines, and jumpers. The hardware is scheduled for fabrication at Technip's Le Trait, France, facility. The transportation, installation, and pre-commissioning also includes 16 km. (52 ft.) of dynamic and static umbilicals with associated electrical and hydraulic flying leads, plus installation of the FPSO spider buoy and mooring system, all provided by Billiton.
The offshore program is scheduled to start in 2007 using theDeep Pioneer construction vessel.
