(Aberdeen) Britain's Department of Trade and Industry has approved Venture Production's plans to develop the Goosander oilfield in the Central North Sea. The scheme involves a 12-km subsea tieback to the operator's Kittiwake platform.
Goosander was discovered in 1998 by well 21/12-3, which flow tested at 8,200 b/d. The well will be re-entered and completed as a producer this spring by the drilling semiTransocean 704. Subject to production performance, Venture may add a water injector well next year for support purposes. The field should come onstream during the summer, with an estimated productive life of 7 to 10 years, and cumulative output of 15.2 MM bbl and 2.6 bcf of gas.
