BLYTH, UK– FES International has secured a contract to supply stab plate connectors with retraction mechanisms to Bluewater Energy Services for a turret being delivered by AMEC to Marine Well Containment Co.
FES will design and manufacture the stab plates as part of Marine Well Containment Co.’s expanded system being developed to capture and contain liquids fromdeepwater well control events in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
The stab plate connector system will be used for emergency connection/disconnection of fluid and electrical paths in the umbilical between the modular capture vessels and the subsea capping stack. The stab plate connector system is designed for emergency and procedural disconnection, safely connecting and disconnecting all fluid and electrical paths in an automatic sequence.
The expanded containment system is being engineered for use in deepwater depths of up to 10,000 ft (3,048 m) in the Gulf of Mexico. The system has the capacity to contain up to 100,000 bbl of liquid and handle 200 MMcf/d of gas.
